Apollo Solar Technology joined the opening of Build It Plus The Junction (Eswatini). The store sits inside The Junction Mall, at the corner of Masalesikhundleni and Ngwane Street. Its opening reflects the growing momentum in a town that has long positioned itself as the economic hub of the Kingdom of Eswatini.

This new Build It location brings the number of stores stocking Apollo Solar products in the country to three, joining Build It Plus Mbabane and Build It Nhlangano on the growing list of retail partners bringing solar solutions closer to Eswatini’s communities.

A Town on the Move

Manzini has never been shy about its ambitions. As one of Eswatini’s key commercial centres, the town has watched its retail and residential footprint expand steadily, and Friday’s launch was as much a story about urban development as it was about a store opening. The Junction Mall itself represents a broader shopping complex development in the area. Build It Plus The Junction was not unveiled in isolation. It arrived as part of a larger investment in the town’s commercial infrastructure.

Who Was in the Room

The speeches were, by all accounts, short, warm, and to the point. His Worship Councillor Xolani Masuku, the Mayor of the City of Manzini, opened proceedings by formally welcoming the store into his town. He was followed by Sam Essa, Chair and founder of the Essa Group, who spoke about the business itself and the role it intends to play within the local community.

The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Appolo Maphalala, then took the floor to walk guests through the planning and development work behind the new precinct. His remarks were a reminder that this launch sat within a much larger urban development story for Manzini. Hawie du Preez, Managing Director of Build It, also addressed attendees, before the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade, Manqoba Khumalo, officially declared the store open.

The guest list reflected the significance placed on the occasion. Among those in attendance were former Prime Minister of Eswatini Cleopas Dlamini, Sam Essa of the Essa Group, and Akbar Essa, Director of Build It Plus The Junction.
